今週のOneStepのマンガで英語クラブ（鬼滅の刃編）で学んだことを紹介します。
頭を垂れてつくばえ 平伏せよ 第６巻 Lower your heads and bow! 先週の終わりに、メンバーにぜひ知りたい表現を来週までに考えておいてと言ったら、真っ先にこれをあげてきました。 いったい、どこで使うつもりなんでしょうか。。。 刀を抜いて戦えこの弱味噌が！！ 第３巻 Draw your sword, and fight, you coward! イノシシくんは、「弱虫」という表現を間違えて、いつも「弱味噌」と言ってます。英語ではフツーに訳されていますね。 daremotokushinai.onestep-mugi3.com 鬼は虚しい生き物だ 悲しい生き物だ They are pitiful creatures, once living and now empty shells. メンバーの一人がいたく気に入っていたのが"empty shells"という表現。たしかに、抜け殻的イメージがよく伝わりますね。 私は限りなく完璧に近い生物だ I am an entirely different creature. かなりの意訳ですよねえ。お前らとは違うんだ！と訳しています。 人を殺した分だけ私がお嬢さんを拷問します ５巻 So I’ll punish you in a way that fits your crimes. 「拷問する」は英語で"torture"なんですが、ここでは"punish"（罰する）としています。少年マンガだから表現を選んだのでしょうか。 さぁ 私の可愛いお人形たち 手足がもげるまで踊り狂ってね ４巻 Now, my darling dolls…dance! Dance like mad until your arms and legs fall off! "dance"を２回繰り返しているのがカッコイイ。 "darling dolls…dance"と、dがかぶさっているのも耳に心地いい。 声に出して読みたい英語です。 笑止千万 If you want something you must fight for it! 全然訳す気ありません。 アイツ急所が無ェぞ 無いものは斬れねぇ！！ ４巻 So it dosen’t have a weak spot! Don’t worry about it. 善良な鬼と悪い鬼の区別もつかないなら 柱なんてやめてしまえ！！ If you can’t tell the difference between a good demon and a bad demon…then you don’t deserve to be a HASHIRA. 俺と禰豆子の絆は誰にも引き裂けない！！ No one can break the bond that Nezuko and I share! 誰よりも強靭な刃になれ！！ ４巻 Become a blade that’s stronger than anyone! だけど鬼であることに苦しみ 自らの行いを悔いている者を踏みつけにはしない ５巻 But I will not belittle those who regret their actions…and suffer over the things they did as demons. 俺はお前を逃さない どこへ行こうと 地獄の果てまで追いかけて 必ずお前の頸に刃を振るう Wherever you go …you won’t get away from me! I’ll follow you to the depth of hell…and your neck will feel the edge of my sword! 鬼になった者にも「人」という言葉を使ってくださるのですね You still use the word “person”…for demons. 惑血 視覚夢幻の香 Scent of illusory blood, visual dream! 人は守り助けるもの 傷つけない 絶対に傷つけない ６巻 People are to be helped and protected. I cannot hurt them. I must never hurt them. でもそれが姉の想いだったら私が継がなければ 哀れな鬼を斬らなくて済む方法があるなら考え続けなければ 姉が好きだと言ってくれた笑顔を絶やすことなく But if that was my sister’s wish, then I must try to carry it out. If there’s a way to avoid killing pitiful demons, I must try to find it…without losing my sunny disposition which my sister always liked. 惨めったらしくうずくまるのはやめろ！！ そんなことが通用するならお前の家族は殺されていない １巻 Stop bowing so pitifully! If that worked, your family would be alive! 老いることも死ぬことも 人間という儚い生き物の美しさだ ８巻 Growing old and dying… is that gives meaning and beauty to the fleeting span of a human life.
